Several Treatment for Migraine Headache Options...

Treatment for migraine headache.

If you've just been diagnosed with migraines by a doctor or suffered with them for years, most likely a line of treatment will be several migraine preventives to cut back on the migraine attacks and something strong such as an abortive to knock out the pain when a severe migraine attack occurs.

We're going to toss around a few more migraine headache treatments that have been found to be effective for many migraine sufferers. Many people shun medicines, and look for different alternative approaches that may relieve their headaches. Read along, and think about what just may help.

Often, migraines creep up so slow by mismanaging them, suddenly it feels like you've had them forever.

Migraine sufferers can't participate in things such as.

Most people can get by with over stepping boundaries, but migraine and headache sufferers can't.

  • Migraine sufferers can't stay up late and get up early.
  • Eat or drink anything they want.
  • Listen to loud music.
  • Miss meals, stay out in the sun to long, and stay stressed out.
  • Take to much pain medicine for general aches and pains, and much more, and slide by without triggering migraines.

Treatment for migraines with medicines may be:

  • Over the counter medications like Excedrin Migraine if taken as soon as the migraine strikes.
  • Always keep an abortive medicine handy, such as one of the triptans. If a severe migraine begins take it immediately. It's to late to prevent it, you just have to treat it.
  • Ask the doctor (we hope headache specialist) to prescribe a preventive medicine. Some migraine sufferers find relief by taking a headache preventive each day. I've talked to several migraine sufferers recently that said their migraines were manageable by taking preventive medicine.

If going to a headache specialist he/she will have you on a course of migraine treatment. If self treating, by learning and then applying what you've learned is a great way to start. Living with migraines doesn't have to be all bad if a sufferer can manage them. There're known migraine triggers that migrainures can't be exposed to. Also, each sufferer should be examined by a physician to rule out a physical ailment responsible for the migraines.

What to avoid to better treat migraines.

  • Avoid stress and changes in sleep patterns.
  • Alcohol such as red wine, beer and champagne, caffeine and artificial sweeteners
  • Avoid bright lights and loud noises.
  • Pay close attention after eating certain foods such as processed meats like ham, bacon, hot dogs, and so forth.
  • Most processed foods that contain MSG.
  • Aged cheese
  • Breads, donuts, pizza dough, and bagels.

By filling in a diary you may find something in the food triggers that contribute toward the attacks. After several migraine attacks look for the same thing that you came in contact with, a certain drink, a certain food.

Treatment for migraine headaches using herbs and vitamins.

We received an e-mail from a woman in New Zealand, and she said that niacin(Vitamin B-3) had relieved her headaches for many  years.

On the market today are such products as MigreLief with combinations of herbs, vitamins, and magnesium that specificity targets migraines to give relief. They are:

  • Feverfew
  • Butterbur
  • Ginger
  • Vitamins B-2 and B-3
  • Magnesium
  • 5_htp raises serotonin levels to relive headaches.
  • Skullcap helps to ease tension headaches. Migrainures tend to also have these overlap with their migraines.
  • SAMe can help with the prevention of migraines but has to be taken for about six weeks to give the full benefit.

Any of these can be found in Amazon. Herbs have been used many years before conventional medicines came about.

Alternative methods for treatment for migraine headache relief.

If migraine medications can't be taken then relief can be had through alternative means. Such as:

  • Biofeedback is used to gain control over body functions.
  • Hypnosis can be tried. DVDs are used for this also.
  • Acupuncture is a more natural approach at treatment for migraine headaches.
  • Chiropractors help headaches related to the neck.
